When I think of March, I think of basketball!  Not only are Nathan and I big college sports fans, but it’s just so fun to get together with friends and family to cheer on our favorite teams.  I’m here today to show you how to create a simple basketball bash with some yummy game day snacks you and your guests will enjoy while celebrating and watching the tournament.

The big tournament is the perfect excuse to get some friends and family together and throw a party…whether you are a basketball fan or not, I think we can all agree snacks are always a good idea!  So to get in the spirit I am sharing with you my slam dunk creamy herb dip, as well as some simple tips for planning a basketball themed party.

Here is a little secret about me: I’m perfectly happy just eating snacks or appetizers! Because of that, I tend to serve these types of foods when I have a get together at my own house.  One of my favorite snacks to put together is this Creamy Herb Dip. It is the perfect game day snack because it can be put together in less than 10 minutes, but it is packed with so much flavor that your guests won’t help but coming back for more!  And if we’re being honest, who doesn’t like a good dip, right? When you combine this creamy dip with the crispy goodness of WHEAT THINS Snacks paired alongside Coca-Cola® Orange Vanilla, you have a winning combination. Head to your local Target for all your party needs plus everything you need to make this delicious recipe. Save on NABISCO and Coca-Cola with Cartwheel in the Target app, now through 4/8/19!

To assemble the Creamy Herb Dip, start by placing the cream cheese and half-and-half in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 1 minute.  Stir the mixture and repeat until the texture is smooth.

Next add the dried beef, chives, onions, parsley, and garlic powder. Stir to combine.

Place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

While the dip is chilling, I like to arrange the foods that will be accompanying the dip on a pretty serving platter.  You can use a variety of vegetables such as cucumbers, sliced bell peppers, and cauliflower, but I think the star of the show are these tasty WHEAT THIN Snacks.  They add the perfect crunch and are hearty enough that they won’t break when dipping!

Serve with an ice-cold Coca-Cola® Orange Vanilla for a slam dunk snack your guests will love.

When it comes to entertaining, I like to keep things easy and casual, but pulled together.  I think a couple of very small, simple details go a long way in making an event feel special and well-thought out without taking a ton of time.  One of the easiest ways to do this is to start with a theme. Obviously, the theme is pretty easy for a Basketball Bash, so I simply picked up some cute plates and napkins as well as a couple of fun themed decorations from the party store.  Set it all up on a centrally located table (near the TV of course), with a cute table runner, your yummy snacks and voila you have yourself a party!

  • 1 pkg. Cream cheese

  • ½ cup half-and-half

  • ¼ cup sour cream

  • 3 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh chives

  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onions

  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped parsley

  • 1 pkg dried beef, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • ½ tsp. Dill

  • Salt to taste

  1. Place cream cheese and half-and-half in microwave safe bowl, microwave on high for 1 minute, stir and repeat until texture is smooth

  2. Add remaining ingredients, stir to combine

  3. Place in refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes

  4. Serve with Wheat Thins Snacks or other favorite NABISCO cracker

We are right in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, which means both hosting and being a guest to all the holiday parties. I love to cook as much as the next person, but I don’t always like to spend hours in the kitchen..especially if I am personally hosting an event or dinner. I’m too much of a social butterfly to be stuck in the kitchen. So when a group of 15 Kentucky bloggers came together to host a holiday event at Jeptha Creed Distillery , I knew this appetizer would be absolutely perfect. You can easily put this dish together in about 10 minutes. Plus the combination of sweet fig, tangy brie and deliciously light and fluffy dough is to die for! This is one of my new favorite appetizer recipes to make for any occasion, and I hope it becomes yours as well! Enjoy!

  • 1 can crescent rolls

  • 1 round Brie cheese

  • 1 jar fig jam

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • Cranberries + rosemary or pine for garnish

  • Assorted crackers or mini-toasts for serving

  1. Heat oven to 350

  2. Unroll crescent dough, separate crosswise into 2 sections.  Press each section into 6-inch square, firmly pressing perforations to seal

  3. Place cheese in center of first dough square

  4. Top with fig jam

  5. Place the other square of dough on top of cheese round. Press dough evenly around cheese, making sure all cheese is covered

  6. Brush dough with beaten egg

  7. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown

  8. Serve warm with crackers

There were so many great dishes at our event! My friend Maya from Pugs and Paprika made these delicious Parmesan Sausage Cups, Whitney of Fabulous in Fayette made a savory Sriracha Caesar Salad with homemade croutons, and my foodie friend Leela from Lex Eats made these perfectly soft and chewy White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies….of which I ate about 5 haha. Not only was the food amazing, but the holiday decor and other festive elements really brought this entire event together beautifully! Stay tuned for my full blog post on the entire event coming this week!

It’s officially holiday season which means all the cocktails parties and family get togethers are in full swing! Let’s be honest, when you are hosting a holiday party, who really wants to be spending the entire time in the kitchen?! Not this girl!  So I’ve teamed up with a few of my fellow Kentucky bloggers to share our favorite quick and easy holiday appetizers! When I say quick, I mean like 10-15 minutes!

One of my favorite holiday appetizers to make for entertaining are these Balsamic Honey + Goat Cheese Pears. It’s so simple to put together, plus they look super fancy and are sure to be the talk of the party.  And did I mention it’s just 5 simple ingredients!  Sweet pears, creamy goat cheese, topped with roasted pistachios and drowned with sweet balsamic honey. Everyone is sure to be asking for the recipe! Don’t forget to check out a few of my other favorite holiday appetizers at the bottom of the page!

Balsamic Honey +Goat Cheese Pears

  • 4 Anjou Pears, cut into 1/4 inch thick slices

  • 1 Tbs unsalted butter

  • 1 Tbs fresh rosemary, finely chopped plus 2-3 sprigs for garnish

  • 1 log of goat cheese, sliced

  • 1/4 cup roasted pistachios, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 tsp balsamic glaze

  1. Preheat oven to 425.  Line a baking sheet or oven stone with parchment paper

  2. Spread pear slices evenly on baking sheet.  Brush with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with rosemary.  Bake for 10 minutes.

  3. While pears are baking, place whole pistachios in a ziploc bag.  Using a rolling pin, break up nuts into smaller pieces

  4. Remove the pears from oven, allow to cool slightly

  5. While pears are cooling, whisk together honey and balsamic glaze

  6. Transfer pear slices to a serving platter, top with slices of goat cheese, drizzle with honey balsamic mixture and top with crushed pistachios.

  7. Garnish with rosemary
